Salle Holyrood is a thriving community club with members from the ages of 8 to 68. Everyone aged 8+ is welcome, whatever level of fencer you are, from complete beginner to experienced international fencer. Many of our fencers compete at British and Scottish Team level alongside those who prefer a more recreational experience. We offer a tiered membership for those only attending once a week to performance fencers attending multiple sessions a week. This tiered membership structure ensures that all our members are getting best value for money.
TIER 1 (1 session a week): from £29/month paid year-round by direct debit
TIER 2 (2 sessions a week): from £34/month paid year-round by direct debit
TIER 3 (unlimited sessions): from £39/month paid year round or annually.
To Join Salle Holyrood:
- Join British Fencing if you aren’t a member already to ensure you have the appropriate insurance cover and note your membership number. British Fencing have a 90 day free trial membership.
- Complete the online Membership Form
- Respond to the email request to set up a Direct Debit with GoCardless.
- Once your membership and payment is all set up you will receive a welcome email and an invite to Spond, the app we use to advise of sessions running, important cancellation/club updates and our Whatsapp group for vital club info.
All members of Salle Holyrood must also have British Fencing Membership to give appropriate insurance cover.

For younger fencers, we run a structured beginners/improvers technical sessions (development classes) which are free for Salle Holyrood Members to take part in.
If you are under 8 and haven’t fenced before, we would recommend looking at Fencing Fun classes to give you the best grounding in the skills of the sport. Fencing Fun use plastic fencing equipment which requires less protective clothing and is lighter, making it much quicker to learn with.
